Partners

The NHS North West Leadership Academy partners with a number of other public sector organisations to work collaboratively to achieve our mission. Together, we shape inclusive leaders who champion collaboration and foster innovative solutions to build healthier communities.

The NHS North West Leadership Academy and the North West BAME Assembly are forging a bold, strategic partnership to embed anti-racism into leadership across the region. Grounded in shared values, the collaboration aims to align resources, foster visible and representative leadership, and drive systemic change. Through trust, data-driven action, and inclusive programme design, the partnership will challenge inequalities, diversify talent pipelines, and hold organisations accountable. Together, they envision a future where anti-racism is integral to leadership development, governance, and commissioning, creating a thriving, compassionate leadership culture that reflects and serves all communities in the North West.
The NHS North West Leadership Academy, while a distinct entity, works integrally with the NHS England North West People and Culture Team within the Workforce, Training and Education Directorate (NHS E WTE Directorate) to deliver regional leadership development.

The NHS North West Leadership Academy delivers leadership initiatives on behalf of the NHS E WTE Directorate, supports the Staff Experience team in promoting good practice and developing resources, and works with the Talent and Resourcing team to provide integrated leadership and talent programmes. These include the Executive Mentoring Scheme and the Deputy and Aspiring Director Development Offer, all aimed at cultivating inclusive, future-ready leadership across the North West health and care system.

Each organisation brings unique expertise to the partnership and together act as a strategic think tank, combining expertise to support health and care organisations to tackle complex challenges.

The NHS North West Leadership Academy works in close partnership with North West ADASS to support leadership development across health and adult social care.

This collaboration is most notably delivered through the North West Collaborative Masterclasses’ high-quality, virtual development sessions, funded and resourced jointly. These masterclasses provide directors from both sectors with regular opportunities to engage in shared learning on strategic topics, fostering cross-sector understanding and leadership alignment. Through this partnership, NWLA, ADASS and partners from the  North West Learning and Development Collaborative strengthen regional leadership capacity, promote integrated working, and ensure that development offers reflect the evolving needs of both NHS and social care leaders.
