Programme and Placement Managers

Ensuring we continue to build a diverse pipeline of future leaders with the right skills, values, and competencies required for the future is vital to the delivery of health and care services.

The Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) would not continue without the support of programme and placement managers.

To get the best from their trainee(s), it is vital that programme and placement managers can commit the time and resource to support their trainee, ensure they are being challenged in the work they are undertaking and are supported to grow.

Our dedicated GMTS team are here to support host organisations, programme and placement managers with training and resources and to answer queries or step in if there are challenges or concerns.

About the Scheme

The Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) is an award-winning fast track graduate scheme providing mentoring, support and high-quality non-clinical training to future NHS leaders. Over the course of two years the scheme offers those wanting to develop their career in the health service with the opportunity to become successful leaders in the NHS; while helping to sustain the NHS talent pipeline.

If joining the scheme in the North West, trainees are offered the opportunity to specialise in one of four areas:

  • General Management
  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Health Informatics
